Under the Loose Fill Asbestos Insulation Eradication Scheme’s voluntary buyback program, the ACT Government offers to buy all residential properties affected by loose fill asbestos insulation in the ACT.
A similar program also exists for the buyback of eligible impacted properties. These are properties that are associated with an affected property and may need to be demolished to support the safe and efficient removal of the affected property.
If you are an eligible homeowner of a newly identified affected or impacted property, you will receive an invitation to participate in either the Loose Fill Asbestos Insulation Eradication Scheme:
Timeframe
The property surrender deadline for the voluntary buyback program is 12 months after being added to the Register for an affected property and 12 months after being deemed Eligible Impacted for an eligible impacted property.
Relocation concessions
Owner-occupiers, tenants and landlords may be eligible for relocation grant assistance and other concessions.
